Having your estate plans completed will bring peace of mind to you now and will make administration efforts easier for your family members and loved ones when the need arises.

For example, executing a financial power of attorney will allow your agent to help you with financial matters when you are not able to attend to them yourself. If you do not have a power of attorney and something happens to you, your relatives may have to go to Probate Court to obtain a conservatorship to handle your financial affairs – and the person appointed by the Court might not have been the person you would have chosen.

Your estate plan, whether it be a will or trust, will ensure that your assets will be distributed to those persons whom you designate upon your death – not as the State of Michigan determines under its laws of intestate succession.
